Mandy Barker

Mandy graduated from De Montfort University in 2011, winning the Emerging Artist Award at Open Up North. She was selected for The Catlin Guide 2012: New Artists in the UK. These photographs are part of the ‘Soup’ series, named after the term given to plastic debris in the sea. All content has been salvaged from beaches around the world, aiming to stimulate an emotional response by combining a contradiction between the aesthetic attraction and a subsequent message of awareness. Each title is available in 3 sizes in editions of just  25.

Sir Peter Blake

Sir Peter Blake is perhaps the most recognised and highly regarded artist of the British Pop Art movement. Much of his output – such as the sleeve for The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ – has achieved iconic status, but he continues to work prolifically from his London studio. Throughout his career Sir Peter Blake has experimented with typography and ‘found letters’. Recent text pieces ‘I Love You’ and ‘Hope’ extend that pursuit and reflect a sentiment and warmth that is inherent throughout his practice. All titles available through My Life in Art are strictly editioned prints, each signed and numbered by the artist.

Vincent Bousserez

Born in 1973, Vincent Bousserez lives and works in Paris.
He began photographing the Plastic Life scenarios 7 years go – though at first it was just for his own entertainment – and he swiftly found representation with galleries throughout Europe. In the UK, the Plastic Life series is exhibited and sold exclusively through My Life In Art.
These photographs of tiny people range from poetic vignettes to witty, barbed comments on human vices. Plastic Life now enjoys a world-wide cult following.

Editions are kept very low with some titles now totally sold out. Each photograph is initially available in 2 sizes, with a print run of just 5 in the large version and 8 for the medium size.

Andy Allen

Born in 1989, Andy Allen recently graduated from Loughborough University and currently lives and works in Nottinghamshire.

Andy’s large scale paintings invite the viewer to contemplate a tension between the geometric structures and the rhythms of nature, creating an intriguing and less familiar environment.

Johnny Christmas

Now working primarily as a photographer and printmaker, Johnny Christmas initially exhibited a set of Braille drawings with My Life in Art in 2007.
Most recently he has been experimenting on a series of photographs made by attaching a combination of coloured torches to a rotating turntable and shooting from above on a very slow exposure. This produces a strong painterly effect. After printing in a large format, the images are Diasec mounted to ensure brilliant colour and a high gloss finish. Born in 1977, Johnny Christmas lives and works in London.

Yasuhiro Onishi

Yasuhiro Onishi completed his BA in Fine Art (Painting) at Wimbledon College of Art in 2010 and was subsequently selected for ‘The Catlin Guide 2011: New Artists in the UK’. His degree show collection was inspired by popular culture – newspaper headlines and found photographs – but interspersed with shadowy characters and Kafkaesque objects.
Recent small-scale portraits display a playful twist on the style of the old masters with references spanning regal portraiture to medieval plague doctors.

Lisa Swerling

Lisa Swerling’s Glass Cathedrals comprise glass-fronted boxes housing miniature figures. There’s something about the scale of these scenes that resonates in a strangely powerful way; the heroism, humour, wistfulness and aspirations of the tiny protagonists are somehow amplified beyond proportion.
My Life in Art exhibit Glass Cathedrals at a number of fairs throughout the year. New titles are introduced at each fair and often the artist can be commissioned to modify certain features in accordance with the client’s specification.

Brigitte Williams

Graduating with distinction from the Slade School of Art in 2006, Brigitte Williams reputation has continued to grow. She won the inaugural Catlin Art Prize in 2007 with ‘United’, ‘In Peace’ and ‘Dislocation’, and her work has been placed in numerous private and public collections.
Brigitte Williams seeks to explore the linguistic and structural patterns underlying our unconscious understanding of the world with the ultimate aim of completely erasing her own subjectivity from the work. This line of enquiry led to ‘Out of the Dark’ – a text piece employing the word ‘zero’ as its point of derivation – which enjoyed remarkable success at the Royal Academy Summer Show in 2011.
